Ashley had a really good day today. She had lots of visitors and we were incredibly happy that she was finally allowed to eat and drink!! Up until today she had not been allowed to consume anything for fear of asphyxiation because of where the tumor is located. However, today she was allowed to have milk, juice and applesauce. I don't think I've ever been happier than when Adrian shared this news with me.
Big sister Lindsey went to preschool today and when we were in the car on our way to see Ashley she began reciting the Pledge of Allegiance for me. I was so proud of her. I know that this is a really scary time for Lindsey and we're working with all of the resources available at Children's to make sure that she gets through this.
We have a few more tests tomorrow and we could potentially start chemo tomorrow, but it wouldn't be until late in the day if it does happen. I can't possibly say enough great things about our pediatrician. She has been there for us every step of the way and she is really helping us navigate through all of this. She did her residency at Children's Memorial and she told us that if her child was in the same situation she would want him to be under the care of the same doctors that Ashley has. So that was very reassuring.
