10/22 Wed Evening Update

Ash was just readmitted to the hospital. She came in for a blood transfusion and to see the nutritionist. The nutritionist had her admitted to monitor her feeds on the NG tube. There was concern over the fact that she was vomitting so much on Monday. As she was being admitted, the nurse took her temp and it was 101.4 degrees fahrenheit ... and that buys you 48 hours in the hospital. All of her temps since then have been normal (even the one that was taken 5 minutes after the initial one) so we're hoping they will let us go home sooner.

As she was being admitted the residents were also able to examine her mouth a little more closely and discovered that she does in fact have mouth sores ... something we suspected, but were never able to confirm since anytime someone tried to look in her mouth Ash would clench down and grind her teeth. So this is likely the cause of her not being able to eat normally. The mouth sores are one of the more common side effects of chemo.

Her blood counts are also still extremely low so we'll see what tomorrow brings.
