10/15 Wed Evening Updated

As I mentioned in my last post, we were released late Friday from the hospital. We had a wonderful weekend at home. It was a great feeling to be reunited as a family at home and enjoying the things that once had been part of our daily routine like taking walks to the park.

Before we were released on Friday, Ashley's oncologist approached us to discuss a new treatment plan. While this new study has not been officially published yet, the early findings show that the survival rates are much higher than with the previous course of treatment. This new study provides us with so much hope. The 1 year survival rates for the previous treatment plan were less than 10%. However, for the new treatment plan the 1 year survial rates are in the 70-80% range and the 2 year survival rates are 50%. When the doctors first told us about this new plan, I thought "God has heard our prayers!" The duration of the new treatment regimen is a full year and today officially kicked off week one.

Ashley also had a spinal tap today and is now receiving chemo through her IV. Chemo will continue through Friday.

We were also very happy that after her spinal tap, Ashley was drinking a lot of milk. Her appetite hasn't been the greatest so she has also been receiving nutrition through her NG (nastrogastic) tube, but we were very excited to see her drink more milk.

Thank you for keeping Ashley in your prayers!!

Claudia, I cannot read your post without my heart aching and my eyes welling up in tears. Please let me know if there is anything we can do. Your family is in our prayers everynight.
Lots of Love,
